This handsome, friendly fellow is Diyoji, a 9-year-old Shiba inu. Diyoji has been seen by a few of Angell’s specialists in just a few weeks. When Diyoji’s owner noticed a lump on the dog’s rump, he came in to see Dr. Angela Mazza, his primary care veterinarian. The results of the blood analysis were inconclusive, so Dr. Mazza felt it best to surgically remove the lump and have it looked at further by our in-house pathologist. The lump was removed the following week, but unfortunately the results were consistent with Intermediate Grade Soft tissue sarcoma. Dijoyi’s next step was to meet with Angell’s Radiation Oncologist Dr. Lyndsay Kubicek to discuss radiation therapy and chemotherapy options. (Dr. Kubicek reported that during their visit, the friendly pup ate a ton of cookies, which he totally deserved!) After his follow-up appointment next week to remove sutures from the initial surgery, Diyoji will begin therapy to prevent regrowth.
