This has got to be the craziest dive session Ill probably ever have. This video has some minor edits just to get all the boring stuff out. All of this was on the Kona side of Hawaii. So me and Johanson Yonny Quist go out and were having a great time. I checked out the house and saw a beautiful Ulua in there. Went down and took a shot with my 90cm hammerhead speargun 1st gen. Then Yonny came and put in a solid back up shot. We landed the ulua and my shaft was bent like a pretzel so my gun was done for the day. I put it on my dive float and Yonny was nice enough to let me rotate using his gun. A little later, he made a nice deep drop and caught an uku. We were all stoked and we went to check out this nice ledge. It was holding some good fish. Mus Uku, Omilu, Kalis. As I was breathing up to make the drop, out of the corner of my eye I saw my worst imagination come to life. It had to be at least a 14ft tiger shark right by me! It took a bite of our fish and swam straight towards me! I made eye contact with it and it was literally within 10ft of me. I had the gun pointed right at it. It then turned around and continued eating out fish. I had just enough time to call to Yonny and he swam over and thats when the Gopro was on. We were both being sucked towards him by the current and Remember that we only had one gun on us and I gave his gun back to him and the only thing I had was my dive knife. Little that would do to a behemoth of a shark. The shark taxed us 100%! We had over 80 pounds of fish gone in two minutes tops. Im just glad we came back in one piece. That shark was so illusive, it could have easily attacked me without a moments notice. I have nothing but deep respect for these beautiful creatures and all it wanted was our fish, nothing more.
