This headline story might come as a shock to some. You might think it was as easy as creating overnight law against “outlaw motorcycle gangs”, wouldn’t you? However, Hizb Ut-Tahrir has been evading government censure for a very long time in Australia. This is no small-scale group of mildly ticked off muslims. They are nowadays right at the heart of Hizb activities world-wide, due to Hizb having been banned and outlawed in many other countries. They don’t just talk, in other words. Public acts could include the following: remarks in a newspaper, journal or other publications; remarks on radio or television; material on the internet, including social networking sites such as Facebook and micro-blogging services such as Twitter; graffiti; putting up posters or stickers; verbal abuse; making speeches or statements; making gestures; or wearing badges or clothes with slogans on them.
