This inconsistency is particularly shocking given that the laws in a majority of states do not require a background check, permitting or even training to open carry a firearm. In all states, but especially those where gun laws are lax, businesses have an obligation to protect their employees and patrons. Pay special attention to this statement from Moms Demand Action. You think the store is responsible for the acts of others? Businesses have an obligation? Wow..... so therefore everyone hurt by criminals on public streets should expect compensation for any assault that took place there? Funny that the facts are 99.9% of criminals dont open carry. Funny that the overwhelming majority of open carry people do have a permit and did go through a background check to get it....and by the way, really boring fact...they went through a background check to BUY the weapon they were carrying. A group created after a horrific act carried out by someone who stole guns after murdering their own mother believes more rules would stop such an act? Sad.....truly sad they believe such fairy tales. If I lived near these stores my personal push to support them and their business would be overwhelming. I hope they dont cave. Funny how the left dislike the 1%....but they like it when that person spends their money for their agenda....... Never quit training. Never quit getting educated. Always carry where legally allowed.
