This is Bonaparte/ Chachi. He was a sick hold foster from the Greenville County Shelter months ago and is heart worm positive. After not being selected for adoption, he rose to the top of the kill list and was pulled by a rescue at the last minute. He had pledges on his posting for his heart worm treatment. The rescue collected some of the pledged funds for his treatment, and Id committed to keep him through his heart worm treatment. He slipped out the door one day and didnt get far. A conscientious neighbor brought him to the shelter and the rescue was to pick him up from there. He purportedly had heart worm treatment done in September and was to be listed on Petfinder for adoption. Long story short, hes back in the shelter with a new name and the status of his heart worm condition is questionable. His records state he is heart worm positive, which is possible if he had treatment, however, theres no statement as to what treatment he actually had performed -- to a potential adopter or rescue -- it might appear that he had no treatment at all which will make him an unlikely adoption candidate once again. At least he wasnt quietly killed which may have been another end to his story. Here are pics of him and a bio written originally for Petfinder which was never posted. Not all rescues operate in the same manner. I am disappointed and disturbed that this dogs rescue turned apparently was based on conditions I wasnt aware of, so now, because of my sense of what is right and wrong, feel responsible for this creatures life. Be very careful about who you donate funds to in rescue land, and that they are being used for the care of the animal you wish to help. Not all rescues operate as true rescues. Bio provided to rescue -- His name changed to Bennie rather than use the Napoleon reference. Bennie is a handsome, charming, 2-3 year old chi/pom mix with a big personality. Hes 100% house-trained, loves to go on walks, and is attentive and responsive to people. He loves treats and chew toys. Clearly, Bennie was a well-trained house pet in his former life. Bennie is a peoples type of boy, preferring human company to that of other dogs, but will tolerate other dogs if they dont jump on him and annoy him. Hes a distinguished little guy with a funny high self-esteem attitude. Apply for Bennie today, especially if your family is interested in a dog who wants to be part of the human family, and participate in your daily life.
