This is Bunnie. She was my daughters dog for the last 11 years and 5 months. Bunnie was only 4 weeks old when we rescued her. Today Sept 7, 2014 when my daughter and her husband took Bunnie for a walk today at a local park in Harrodsburg she was struck by a car. Following the leash law, crossing at the corner when the light changed for them to cross and obeying the crosswalk law using the crosswalk my daughter and Bunnie were headed home. Even following all of the laws when they went to cross College street when it was their turn to cross Bunnie was just a couple of feet on the lease in front if my daughter when Bunnie was struck by a car. If my son in law had not yelled at my daughter when he did she might have also been struck. The really sad thing is that this car was not just any ordinary car it belongs to the Harrodsburg Police Department. The officer claims he did not see them crossing the street and he was not on an emergency run either. The force of the impact broke all of Bunnies ribs and her neck. She died almost instantly. Bunnie was not only great dog but was a member of our family. Always happy to see you. Always greeted you was a smile and tail wag. Played fetch, would sit, stay and obeyed other commands. She loved to lay on the sun and get her tan on. She was special in many ways. We rescued her over an Easter weekend which is how she got the name Bunnie. Bunnie, we love you and you will be missed.
