This is Joni & I wanted to update everyone on Mikies journey so far during this second battle of fighting this awful disease! They have had him on a chemo pill for the last month hoping it would shrink the tumors in his lungs & lymph nodes so that they could then hit them with proton beam radiation. They have to shrink them first because several of them are very large (one of them in his lung is the size of his heart!) and they cant do radiation with them that big. He went for scans on Sept. 12 to check the progress & although the tumors havent shrunk they have stopped growing so they decided to do another month of the chemo pill. If after a month the tumors have shrunk they will do the radiation but if they havent then they will have to resort to trying a previously used chemo drug that had caused him major side effects! It actually almost killed him! They said if that happens they will try to use a lower dose & for a shorter amount of time then before to hopefully minimize the bad reactions he had last time. We have faith that he will beat this monster just like he did before with the help of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ! Please keep him & his family in your prayers!
