This is Larry and I will try and answer you questions. First, the Gift Certificates are being mailed to the three contest winners tomorrow. GREAT OUTFITS !! Now I will try to answer questions and then do a quick update on all the projects going on at the Hotel. Why did I buy the Hotel? I was born and raised in Phoenix but was looking to make a change to some place with a slower pace. Jerome was only 2 hours away, however, if you want to move to Jerome, you need to invent something to do. Phelps Dodge Mining Corp had the United Verde Hospital building for sale and I had been in the hotel field in the past. I think I was motivated more by feeling than common sense or I would not have attempted the project. After 20 years now, Im thankful I made the move but now realize how risky the project was. Crazy Larry in the wheelchair on the 1st floor? I had no part of that and it was placed there by the Restaurant. The name fits but I cannot take credit. Most haunted room or area? That would be subjective. According to guests, I would say room 32 is the most cited room and the 4th floor the least cited area. The building operated as the United Verde Hospital from Jan. 1927 to 1950 and while there were deaths there, a lot of babies were born and lives saved at the same time. Room 32 was most often used for new mothers as the nursery was in room 30 so I dont know why room 32 has its reputation. When we first moved to Jerome 20 years ago, there were still a number of nurses that had worked up there and they had some good stories and were able to answer to the many rumors going around at that time - some still do. There were two suicides committed on the 3rd floor and neither was in room 32. As for myself, the first month we were in the building was strange. We were working about 16 hours a day, seven days a week and I would say the boiler room was the least friendly area, feeling wise, but it may have been because it was the darkest area. After the 1st month, the feel of the building changed from being a heavy uncertain atmosphere to a completely relaxed and positive atmosphere. The change was very sudden - I would say overnight. I guess if you believe in spirits, we were given acceptance or they no longer felt threatened by us. Personally, my least favorite thing to talk about are spirits. When asked if I ever fear the spirits, I will answer No, I only fear the people looking for them. Thanks to Chris and some of our employees who enjoy talking about the spirits, I have it pretty easy. Kimberlee - I did not forget about you and the noise the workers were making. During the weekdays, we block off the back rooms due to the noise but the Grand Suite, as you know, runs from the front to backside. They are not supposed to start until 8:00 AM. I will check it out but we will make it up to you. Look me up - I am up there most every morning about 8:00AM. Wine Tour Package - I know there is interest in this and we have talked about doing something along this line but I have too many irons in the fire right now. We do want to do our own in-room guest book that should list all the wineries and what tours are available. Sounds like a good project for Chris so thanks for the suggestion and we will try and make it happen. As for the projects going on, I will have to address them next time as I need some rest. A lot of upgrades to look forward to. Thanks for the questions and everyone have a great Thanksgiving !!!! Larry
