This is Macca, the Unicare Early Childhood Education pet pig. He loves going for walks around the Crawley campus, rolling in the mud and water, and also searching for acorns and figs to eat. Despite his antics, he’s very clean (yes, really). You may have seen him out and about between your classes. Macca is a dearly cherished member of UWA. Here are some things Macca would like you to know about himself: 1. I love the company of the children and don’t like to walk on my own. 2. I love running around the oval with the children. Oak Lawn is fun when there’s lots of people around. 3. I don’t like green vegetables, but I love sweet potato and watermelon. 4. I came to Unicare as a miniature pig from the east coast but have grown a lot bigger. I’m a whole two years old now! 5. My DNA is very close to human DNA. Unfortunately the children can give me their germs and I can give them mine. My carers make sure I get my necessary vaccinations so I can keep the kids healthy.
