This is Nigel de Jong of The Netherlands. He is of Surinamese and Indonesian descent. He has a reputation for being a dirty player and has earned the nicknames of “The Terrier” and der Rasenmäher (“the Lawnmower” in German). He was responsible for fracturing the leg of American Stuart Holden during an international friendly match between the US and The Netherlands in 2010, which kept Holden out of action for 2 years. That same year, de Jong’s tackle in a Premier League match resulted in a double fracture of the left tibia and fibula of Hatem Ben Arfa, a French national team player. de Jong is perhaps most famous for the below-pictured “tackle” on Xabi Alonso of Spain in the 2010 World Cup Final, for which he amazingly did not receive a red card. - Kohei Yamamoto
