This is Shadow, a stray I have befriended. He has known me long before I befriended him. I will never forget the first time I saw him in the darkness. He decided one day that we could be friends and made himself known. One evening I went out the garage and he was under our truck so I started talking to him. Eventually he grew bolder and ventured out to eat. Our relationship has gotten better over time and he trust me more and more. I have fed him now for longer than I have known because I have a inside kitty who ventures out sometimes overnight so food is left out. Felix and Shadow are friends so there is no tension between them, but recently there was a black cat who came up because of a female in the area ( who has since been rescued by my daughter ) I called him Black mamba because he was such a mean cat. He fought with Shadow on different occasions and I feared Shadow would get a serious injury and possibly leave. The pressure is off for now and I havent seen Black mamba. Shadow loves to be talked to and rubbed. He was coming around each morning and evening but as of late he is sporadic. I m not sure why unless he has food else where. He came up last week limping on his front paw. I could see no damage or swelling but now he at least is using it when he come around. My heart goes out to this cat.... He goes through so much just to exist... I try to do as much as I can for him as you can see at least he has a decent bed on a cold north florida night.
