This is a Must Read by everyone in Sri Lanka. (..and dont forget to read the comments... some are priceless..) ...Fooling some of the people all the time! The Minister of Finance Mahinda Rajapaksa presented another budget. At the end he asked How is the Gamey Baiyya’s work?” I was not sure, as a citizen of this country, whether to laugh or cry. Seems like, he took pride in presenting THAT budget. I strongly feel he was misled. I strongly feel he was not told THOSE promises he made cannot be implemented beyond the short term without cutting something else. I strongly feel that no one had shown him the INCOME column. Or on the other hand, he knew everything! He could make people like Keynes, Friedman and Stiglitz, mere kindergarten students. I am worried about the people who lit fire crackers! I am worried about people who still innocently think the MahaRaja has given them a good deal. But I am more worried about the people who know that THIS is a farce. They are the people who will have to pay for the ignorant. Abraham Lincoln once said, “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time”. I agree with him. Equally importantly he said that he had full faith in the people to overcome any crisis, if they knew the truth. I agree totally. My mission is to show the people of this nation the truth about this budget and its implications so that they will do right by the future generations of Sri Lankans!
