This is a bit of a TBT moment for your Wednesday, but - 20 years back on this date (on a Friday though), I stood on the porch of the Arnett House, at LCU, and believed myself to be the happiest and luckiest man on this planet. I had convinced Lori Dooley to ask me out for a Sadie Hawkins date and that was our meeting spot. There on that porch staring back at me was the hottest girl on campus and I was a ball of nervous why on earth is she interested in me energy. What I discovered that night was a realization that God must exist and really be trying to get my attention - because I did NOT deserve Lori Dooleys attention. Even more - she was about as goofy as me (almost) and we spent the next 8 hours laughing (at each other mostly) and falling in love. So for the TBT reference: Below are pictures that captured some of the moments from that first date. Looking back these pictures were supposed to be just a fun memory of our date. But it was fortuitous planning on her part - which thank God in heaven is a gift she brought to the relationship. To say that Ive been dating my best friend all these years is an understatement. Shes my best buddy, the one I look for at the end of a hard day, the girl who jumps in the car and points and says, drive that way, my source of wisdom when Ive lost all concept of reality, and when all the chips are on the table - shes the courage I couldnt find. I love you baby - so glad to tell the world
