This is a brief story of the bad experience I had with safecobs, now the cob company. After viewing and trying a horse that was going to be a family pony for my 2 daughters and myself to ride occasionally, we decided to go ahead and purchase Billy a black cob. Within a week of being with us he took off at speed and generally behaved badly, he was also head shy and after a little while I was concerned and definitely felt very strongly he was not a safecob and therefore not fit for purpose. I had paid nearly £4k for him. I phoned lia and stated that billy was being a problem and I was concerned about him tanking off etc. She appeared cross and more or less blamed me for things and the telephone conversation ended with her telling me to take it legal it would cost me a fortune and putting the phone down. Things went from bad to worse and billy was assessed by professional who said he was overpriced, very green and not really for novices as he still needed producing. Eventually billy after several different remedies being tried was going to be put on loan at west Anglia training college. They train instructors etc and would reschool billy then use him in their school. I believed this would be the perfect environment for him as I was told by Lia he had come from a riding school, also billy would be contained and easier to control with experienced horse trainers. He was on 2 week trial then he could stay and comeback to us in School holidays which would have been great. After 8 days I was asked to remove him he had bronced in arena and chucked trainer off and they had enough he was so green and unproduced. He also reared up on the road with my eldest daughter and cantered off causing a traffic problem. Enough was enough and billy was sold as a project after taking expert advice and I lost nearly £3k. I would not want anyone to go through this sort of bad experience, always take a very well trained Instructor with you when buying or have on trial first. Always or dont get it.
