"This is a call to action for everyone who loves the barrier islands of Lee County, specifically Cayo Costa State Park and Upper Captiva. The state of Florida has launched an assault against precious state owned conservation lands including 10 fragile parcels of these two Pine Island Sound islands. These parcels were vetted as prime conservation properties and purchased for protection not too long ago. Now Gov. Scott has directed the sale of hundreds of parcels around the state to raise funds to buy “better” parcels. What is better than the pristine coastal barrier islands the state already owns? The time is now to get involved and let’s get these parcels removed from this list."
