This is a debilitating condition. If you are lucky you will not have to go through the combination of panic, depression and anxiety, one of these conditions is more than enough. Twenty years ago I was very unlucky and developed this horrific combination. It hit me out of left field and I felt it would kill me for sure. When I was stricken, I had family that thought I was just dramatic and wanted attention. My doctor, at the time, sent me to see a psychologist who told me I was not "nuts" just way over stressed. She said "you need meds to help you through the condition and to get out from the pressure". Easy to say not easy to do, when the pressure comes from trying to take care of a parent who is, emotionally, not able to care for herself. This condition stayed with me for an added 14 year. When my mother passed the stress started to leave and the conditions severity lightened. Please if you have a family member that is placed into an over stressed problem, that can not be walked away from, help by giving them a break. A few hours, even twice a month. will help to lift them from the oppressing pressure of holding up their life and someone elses. Even the strongest of us can be overwhelmed .
