This is a desperate plea to anyone and everyone. Two days ago I rescued my pet ferret Zoobooks from the neglectful family that I had entrusted to take care of him due to at the time my inability to give him the time, love, and attention that ferrets need to thrive. He is in horrible condition. Granted he may have Adrenal Disease which could have caused the hair loss.. But, he is very lethargic only exerting normal ferret energy for short intervals, with little to no appetite. He has dark marks on parts of his body. And, it is obvious that he suffers from severe malnutrition from the way his bones are showing. My first day with him he was in a bad condition but it was not immediately life threatening.... Or so I thought until last night. The person that I entrusted to care for Zoo yesterday while I was at work gave him pedialyte without really knowing what they were doing. They could have gave him anywhere from 12-18 mL of pedialyte before I got home from work. On my arrival I came home to him giving Zoobooks trail mix chips despite my protests. Soon afterwards I noticed him acting very strange. Just laying in the floor instead of in a blanket, not really moving around at all. He started to make strange sounds, what I believe to be chocking sounds, he began to retch and eventual vomit a little, but continued to retch. His breathing became very very labored even making sounds in efforts to breath. The chocking, occasional retching, intense labored breathing, extreme lethargy, continued throughout last night. It was such an extremely horrific experience, I was sure he was dying. Thankfully that was not the case. Today he is better and he let me syringe feed him today, but it is apparent that he is still feeling horrible.... Is there anything I can do for him to provide some sort of relief?? And, does anyone have any idea what could have caused last night?? And how I can prevent that from ever happening again. Thank yo
