This is a great article that illustrates an amazing phenomena...grassroots amateur-led human trials. Parents with really sick kids, sumbunall with seizures, are coming to Colorado to legally obtain CBD for their kids. After hearing about some successes, people come seeking miracles, because thats all thats left. So, without full information, without medical continuity of care, without jobs, without all family members, they move to a new state, and jump in. This is a heartbreaking story, Im sure they all are. But the majority of traditional neurologists in the state do NOT support seizure treatments with cannabis. There are no reliable studies that show that cannabis is a cure for seizures, because the feds still treat it as an illegal narcotic. While the state licenses doctors to write prescriptions, thats it, those doctors do not see patients for anything more than the application appointment. CDPHE monitors caregivers, dispensaries, and grow houses, and you apply to them to get your card, but theres no support for patients. I have to say, I love you Childrens Hospital! Thank you for working with some of these people and actually collecting data. This MUST be studied further, and parents must be educated and supported. Right now, the doctors seem to believe that the parents observations of improvements are mostly wishful thinking. MDs are taught to be more objective, a parent is too invested to be dispassionate about their evidence gathering. So, for now, the surveys could be terribly flawed. The wonderful news is that these parents are starting to join together and support each other as a real life community, not just an isolated online community. Words of support on a screen are helpful, but nothing like babysitters, friends, shared expenses, and playdates. I hope it works!
