This is a great read. Its true, sad but true. And not talking about the issues doesnt mean they dont exist. I see it ALL the time in our business. I will never forget (for those of you that dont know, my husband and I have owned an asset based lending brokerage firm for years now) we had a client in the New England area. He need funds to purchase a box truck for his business. His credit was BEYOND TERRIBLE. When I pulled his stuff I almost fell out of my chair. But, because banks lend to 15% of A credit people, HE NEEDED our company to expand his business and win more contracts from the US Postal Service. The day he was being funded the money, he said to me is this a black loan?.....I was confused and COMPLETELY clueless to what he was asking. I called up our business partner Wesley and was like, is their a new product were not carrying called the black loan? Wesley was like, He wants to know if you are black. If BLS is own by blacks before he takes the loan. I was BEYOND HOTTTT. His broke tail, bad credit credit having, almost illiterate self had the nerve to be asking me such a stupid question when NO ONE else would help him. I socked it to him. Yep, he paid me, a black woman, and extremely high interest rate because of his ignorance. Yep- you sent THIS BLACK WOMAN AND HER KIDS TO A BEAUTIFUL VACATION IN ROATAN THAT YEAR SIR. Thank you very much! We had a blast on your dime and extra interest that went straight to my bank account. Yes, racism is real.
