This is a great read. My whole childhood I wanted to be a comic book artist. I spent all my free time drawing (and writing) comic books of my favorite superheroes. In elementary school I did a series of Freddy Krueger v. _____ and Freddy always won. But then I became an art student and I learned that to work at Marvel Comics or DC Comics, you had to be a freelancer and sign away the rights for any creations you came up with. It also paid peanuts (I think the starting salary for a comic book penciller in 1994 was about $14K a year).
