This is a letter I am sending to media, editors and whatever bits and pieces to different places. I am a home-front wolf warrior ( cant travel - yet) so I will do all I can this way. We are trying to build a team to gather all media info that this can be sent to - ie , Peter Souzas great info on the Seattle Times etc. If anyone can help with this please post the info in comments! Please use any parts of this letter that might be helpful to send to media, the Governor, the retched wildlife services etc. This letter is regarding (WDFW) Director Phil Anderson and the kill order he issued on up to four members of the Huckleberry wolf pack. The kill order was issued because several sheep were recently killed after being placed only a few miles from an area where wolves are known to gather. All too late, halfhearted and ineffective attempts were made to use basic non-lethal methods for separating wolves from sheep, but the state has all too quickly resorted to killing them! This kill order was secret, perhaps the WDFW was hoping to slide under the publics radar. Under the current kill order, up to one-third of the pack could be shot. This is egregious hateful behavior and reflects the unethical ways wolves have been treated in the states since they were delisted. I am shocked that Phil Anderson did not learn a thing from annihilating the Wedge pack in 2012. The wolves were accused of eating the cattle, but when the dead wolves stomachs were examined, there was no cow meat to be found. The $76,000 spent to kill wolves could have easily been spent then, to actually implement non lethal means. Notable conservation groups SENT the WDFW non lethal systems ( actual equipment) to employ, systems that have worked in other countries - not even fox lights were used and no time was given to really put them in place. Washington statess last governor allegedly lost her office mostly because she murdered another pack of wolves. Has the current Governor not learned from the Wedge pack? How can that be? The sheep move from place to place, they have temporary homes. There is nothing temporary about wolves. Irreparable harm has already been done to the pack by the killing of one female wolf. They know nothing about wolves to think everything will continue normally and to kill 3-4 more? Packs depend on each other to survive . The Huckleberry pack is one of the few remaining packs in Washington stats. There are only 52 wolves in Washington state, not one more can afford to be lost - not one more of these fragile, endangered species... The tactic for killing them has now been changed and the wolves are now going to be trapped, another cruel and inhumane means. When these majestic animals are caught and tortured they will then be euthanized. One life taken from the Huckleberry pack was one too many. This is one of the few packs left in the state. There are only 52 wolves in Washington. These wolves need each other and each death has a huge impact on the packs ability to survive. The idea that this will teach them to hunt other animals is preposterous at best. There is SO much more to this than meets the eye . WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS?? The rancher - look him up - Dave Dashiell - he is the President of the ( wolf hating) Cattle Producers of Washington! His brother is rumored to be on the wolf management commission in Washington. Are you shaking your head yet? wdfw.wa.gov/about/advisory/wag/WAG_MemberRoster.pdf It was KNOWN that the wolves were there. The sheep were spread over a large area of timber land ( hmmm, is this about timber?) It took many many days to finally remove the sheep carcasses. There was NO confirmation ( one sided) on how many of them were actually killed. The area was heavily affected by fire - wolves did not have their usual habitat and there were young to be fed. All wildlife service agencies should know that. The herder (and we understand another one quit) was gone for at least two days as was the range rider ( almost a week) and the rancher was rumored to not even have been there and the sheep wandered everywhere in that time guarded by only two dogs. Who fed the dogs? So we have unattended open range sheep in rugged back country. 1800 sheep, 2 dogs to guard alone without the shepherd that was gone for days... Neither the Governor or the WDFW appears to be listening to ANY factual evidence or ANY science. They seem to be hell bent on killing wolves and theyve found a way to do so. Neither the Governor or the WDFW is listening to the public outcry. (cattleproducersofwa/2013/11/) Please speak for the wolves right now. Please report this. Dont let this killing continue. Then, see what is happening in the rest of the country. I assure you, you will be sickened and stunned. Thank you.
