This is a letter written by Oiler fan René-Louis Baron. It was read on ched last night and should be shared with all fans who still need a reason to demand more from this hockey team. Please have more expectations for our team. Please hold them more accountable. I have been reading some posts on here and it seems some of you are going out of your way to justify the Oilers performance and record. Dont just expect this team to scrape by on bare minimum here. Dont just expect this team to finish just above 24th ish place and call it an improvement and be content. Dont be happy with one win every 5 games. Dont be happy with ONE solid game. Dont be happy because we can only win against Eastern teams. Be consistent as a fan. Dont go up and down up and down just like the Oilers efforts on the ice. Dont be happy one game and upset one game. Be upset all the time until there are changes here because one win might put a smile on your face but it wont matter when you look at the big picture. Be consistent as a fan and expect more. When we make the playoffs and have shown we are consistently good, then you can get upset when we lost a game. But right now its expected we lose because we have absolutely no consistency or drive out there. Have higher standards for this team. Please EXPECT A LOT MORE from this organization. Hold this team and management way more accountable and quit making up excuses for them. We are going to miss the playoffs going on the 9th year. This isnt normal. Quit making excuses for Eakins, Lowe, MacT, Chabot, The Players, and everyone else in this organization. Start to demand results, start to demand a more PRO-ACTIVE organization. Some of you are saying its not Eakins fault because he is new. Thats exactly my point. MacT hired the wrong coach and now to save face he will keep Eakins here for continuity, and Kevin Lowe hired the wrong GM in MacT. Its a circlejerk. And we have an owner who would rather have friends than business partners. The way this team is built is horrible. We havent won a SINGLE game in our own conference yet this season. Thats so embarrassing. The management here is horrible and needs to change. The insanity of this whole thing is having two guys with the same vision trying to do different things over and over and over again and both of them said a few years ago they wanted to change the culture... bullshit. This cannot be done with the same people in charge of this team since 2000. Quit accepting the Oilers same old same old Status Quo. We dont need to turn into loser fans with no expectations just because our organization has a losing culture. TL;DR: Hold your favorite team to higher expectations because the current management doesnt.
