This is a long post. However if you are coming to the Great - TopicsExpress

This is a long post. However if you are coming to the Great Gaming Getaway you need to read it all unfortunately. The Getaway will run from 5pm on Friday 05/12/2014 to 5pm on Sunday 07/12/2014. There may be scope for people to arrive a little earlier than 5pm on the Friday (we actually have it from 12 noon) however it depends on what time Im able to get there to open the doors (Ill definitely be there by 5 however). --- What you need to bring. * A bed sheet/cover for the bed (single bed). They do already have mattress protectors on, but Gearstones ask you bring your own sheet. * Sleeping bags or a duvet. * Pillows. * Food if you do not plan to be involved with the communal meals * Beer/drink if you want it. * Snacks and stuff if you want them * Games! Lots of games! The reason you need to bring your own bedding is that the lodge is run on a purely voluntary basis and they have no laundry capabilities. We will be required to clean the lodge before we leave for similar reasons. Everyone will be expected to clean – and if we all work together (and dont make too much mess initially) it wont take more than 20 minutes to get back to ship shape. What I am bringing on your behalf * Wishing up liquid and equipment * Toilet paper * Dust bin liners * Food enough to have basic communal breakfasts and lunches. So thats bread, butter, milk, corn flakes, baked beans, ham, cheese and tomatoes. Also sugar, tea, and instant coffee. We will be having breakfast and lunch at the lodge on Saturday and Sunday Ill keep a tally of what Ive spent on this and well split it. I cant see it costing much. If you want anything other than what Ive listed for breakfast and lunch then feel free to bring your own. It would be nice to do some sort of cooked breakfast, but Im trying to keep things as easy (and cheap) as possible to organise. What Dave G and Mike P are bringing. * Chicken Thai Green Curry for one evening meal. * Chilli for one evening meal. Again the cost of these will be split between those that have them. If you dont want to have either of these meals then you can bring and prepare your own food. At this point the two vegetarians that I know about (Mike T and Charlotte) have said they are bringing their own stuff for the evenings. Anyone else veggie? --- Sleeping. Well be sleeping in communal rooms with bunk beds. Exact sleeping arrangements will be sorted out on arrival. However there will probably be scope for each of the couples to have their own separate rooms if they want to, the self identified serious snorer to have his own room, and then the rest of us to be split up between the remaining 5 communal rooms. There will be a womens only bedroom room available. We dont need a Men Only bedroom as the smell will keep most people away. --- Travel. The address of Gearstones Lodge is: Gearstones Lodge, Chapel le Dale, Nr Ingleton, North Yorkshire LA6 3AS. Its here on google maps: https://google.co.uk/maps/place/Gearstones+Lodge+and+Cottage/@54.215132,-2.338974,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xb40feae59609bd9 The info they sent me states there is car parking for up to 12 cars. There is no parking on the road unfortunatly. However if we end up filling the car park there is “overspill space past the lodge towards Ribblehead”. We mustnt block access to the cottages next door. For people who havent got cars the following has been arranged. I am giving a lift to Brian M and Mushy. Craig is giving a lift to Dave G Does anyone else need a lift there? ---- Contact details and internet. Gearstones is in a mobile reception blackspot. However it does have wifi that we are able to access. Its advisable to leave the lodges payphone number (01524 241449) with someone so you can be contacted in an emegency. --- Cost. The final price is still unconfirmed as it depends on how many we have coming. However as it stands it is going to be £25 per person for both nights. If you are going to take part in communal meals then you can probably add around £10 - £12 to that price. There is no need to pay in advance, but I will need paying pretty shortly afterwards as I have to settle the bill with Gearstones. I think thats it. So the thing I need from you now is: * If you need a lift (but arent Brian, Mushy, or Dave) I need to know ASAP. * If you dont want to participate in the communal meals but arent Mike or Charlotte let us know ASAP * If you are vegetarian (or have other dietary needs) and want to participate in the communal meals then let us know ASAP *If you are coming, but dont think Im aware that you are coming (i.e. Ive not tagged you below) then let me know ASAP Phew.
