This is a long read, but it explains a lot of the current problems at Papa Rouxs. I have to say, personally, I have found him to be generous to a fault. I went to him when I was at Stonybrook, and asked if there was a way to make a meal for $5 for our sped students who take weekly field trips, but that was their budget. With out blinking he said, all day long, just give me a heads up so I can let the staff know, and they can ring them up for $5. Then I asked if he would be willing to donate something to help us recognize our wonderful teachers. He immediately asked if I would accept two cards for free PoBoys. ABSOLUTELY! I believe he has done more to revitalize the East Side than any other person/agency/activity. This man could have went back to New Orleans after leaving his corporate job, and he opted to stay here, and put his heart and soul into his part of the city. Time and time again he has recommended small local places, even if they are a restaurant too. I think he is an amazing man, caught in a bad predicament, and I will gladly try to help by sharing his posts and anyh other way I am able.
