This is a lovely story about Ivy, who came to see us with originally a cough, but went downhill very quickly and was fighting for her life. We suspected that she had inhaled a grass seed which had moved from her lungs through her diaphragm and ended up next to her spleen, which caused a severe life threatening infection. Vets Cesar and Dave worked together in a long operation to locate and remove the seed, repair the damage and treat the infection. As you can see from the picture of Ivy taken today with our nurse Sophie, the operation was a success and she is now thankfully back to full health! Although grass seeds are a nuisance and do sometimes cause problems with our pets, we are grateful we don’t see cases where they have done this much damage too often!
