This is a man who existed and did save many lives. War is an ugly thing. In the film it’s represented as the villain on both sides. You see the atrocities. Everybody loses out in the game of war. It’s depicted that Chris really struggles with a lot of aspects of his job. It’s a horrible dynamic to be put in.
