This is a must read for all the parents of young people out there. A youth struggles to stay alive after buying the 2CB for only $10 in the city of Adelaide. An ambulance was called to a park only minutes from where I live a few nights ago after his friends could no longer restrain him. We also live near an oval and a recreational centre so the screams I hear often are usually dismissed for victory chants after a match. As a society we have become so complacent, havent we? Here in Australia, our work seems to have taken over our lives in the mindless pursuit for wealth which we mistakenly believe will lead us to happiness. I thought F Scott Fitzgerald had warned us about the perils of self-absorption in The Great Gatsby. We claim we want to help, but when it gets too tough, it is met with fear, denial, judgement or even worse, ridicule. And these reactions usually come from those closest to you. Please take a few minutes to read this article and then scroll down to the first reply made by member of the public. They write: We have all lost meaning in our lives. We tend to go through the motions rather than truly embrace this experience and seek real pleasures. To the parents out there, teach your kids to love life, to appreciate nature, to take up a musical instrument, to read the great works of philosophy, to admire a painting, to enjoy simple things. To know where their food comes from, to know science, to pursue their dreams. You have a duty to them. Dont ignore them. Dont turn your back on them. Dont be too busy with work.
