This is a perfect example of the sort of literature that needs a wide berth. It is only there to undermine, and more often than not, undo the kind of quality teaching one can only receive from a seasoned and practiced Piano teacher. Apart from being bereft of any sort of cultural basis, the actual explanations are wrong and the prescribed hand positions worryingly dangerous. It is very obvious from reading this book that Horvat is clearly a player of substandard and remedial achievement, and is using this artform to target the instant gratification brigade in search of an audience. If one is a visual learner, then I suggest watching excellent video footage of Rubinstein or Richter. Pianism and the pursuit of Pianistic excellence is a hard earned and life long endeavour. I find this sort of publication not only an insult to those who have achieved tremendous results in the only possible way forward - seeking a fine teacher, and practicing hard and long hours- but a devious and dangerously manipulative way to gain revenue. I would suggest that this book would make excellent wall paper.
