This is a question to all the Dressage Judges who are friends on my Facebook. When judging a dressage test, how reasonable does scoring mostly 6s achieve? I have thought on this for a few years now when I have seen horses score sheets. You have a complete range of scores to chose from when watching the horse in front of you and would it not be more beneficial to the rider of the horse if you used the whole scale on how the horse is going: Scale of marks The scale of marks is as follows: 10 Excellent 9 Very Good 8 Good 7 Fairly Good 6 Satisfactory 5 Sufficient 4 Insufficient 3 Fairly Bad 2 Bad 1 Very Bad 0 Not Executed I think its far more educational for a rider to see a score sheet with a variety of marks to show the correctness of the movement they did, whereas a score of 6 throughout does not give much education IMHO. Again I am intrigued to know why score sheets like this happen.
