This is a quick information post for those of you wondering whats going on with the Toronto Puppy Title contest. The Toronto Bound weekend schedule has been released and Im sure that youre wondering why theres no puppy contest information there. Let me give you some info as to whats going on. When I won February 15th of this year, it was the general understanding that my Title run would be one calender year and carry me to Bound Weekend 2015. Theres been some changes over the course of the last 11 months,and as a result things have changed for me personally and the contest as a whole. Firstly Heart of the Flag Federation has undergone changes at the Board of Directors level. Sir Robert Miller has now taken the helm as president, along with Master THayla Ferguson as VP and Titleholder liaison, giving Master Jack Pearce and Greg McG McDougall-Dinsmore a well deserved break. With the brass changing up come changes of policy and planning too. Currently its the hope and desire of the Board to re-align the Toronto Puppy title to run alongside the Mr. and Ms. Leather Titles. Therefore all 3 contests would run at the same time starting during leather week August 2015. The blessing-curse of the current Title is that each puppy gets two sets of Title family and this can add challenges for the family and the puppy on many levels. It would simplify things somewhat to have the Titles lined up all together. No doubt therell be a lot to work out as the Puppy Title is its very own unique position. I firmly believe the judging panel should still remain Puppy community based and not just leather based, and will do my best to ensure that my puppy community will have input on how the contest comes to be in its new format. With the date realignment comes the added plus that the Toronto Puppy Titleholder would be able to compete at such contests such as International Puppy and Pup and Handler towards the end of their Toronto run, having amassed their experiences and skills locally. While I was unable to compete at IPC this term, had I gone I would have been going with only 4 months under my belt and green as grass to boot. This would give the current puppy plenty of time to cut his teeth and get accustomed to running events and organizing both fun and fundraisers! Currently I have agreed to stay on beyond my February one year anniversary date, in order to help my current Title family roll out their year(s). I very much enjoy working with both Brett and Luca, and want the very best for both of them. I currently have a few more Funraisers planned and some travel plans to represent Torontos puppies on a North American stage. However tho, I very much value the input of my chosen family, friends and pack mates. I rely on you guys for feedback and guidance as I go. So currently, Look for HOTFF to reprise the Toronto Puppy Title contest during Leather Week in early August 2015. Ill forward any and all info on to you all as I receive it. Toronto Bound weekend will be running as scheduled February 13th to 15th and theres plenty of cool stuff to do including our charity auction featuring Brett, Luca and yours truly.
