If you do not receive an email notification within this timeframe, please call Amber Davis at 404.562.9014, as your application may have been caught in a spam filter. ______________________________________________________________ U.S. Environmental Protection - Agency Region 4 Deadline June 30, 2014 Location Atlanta, Georgia Classification Public Sector Duties Serves as a Pesticide Project Officer responsible for the technical administration the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) grant program as delegated to the Region 4 states. Reviews grant application or technical completeness and consistency with national and regional priorities under the supervision of the Section Chief and/or with mentoring from other staff. Reviews grant applications to ensure that technical aspects of the grant are complete and appropriate. Coordinates with the appropriate staff to ensure that grant applications are handled in a timely fashion. Monitors grant program outputs and overviews program performance; including coordinating and implementing the annual reviews of the assigned State program(s). Develops written evaluation reports of state program(s) performance, recommending changes for improvement. Assists in the negotiation, development and initiation of enforcement actions for facilities which are in violation of FIFRA; attends and participates in settlement meetings as the lead negotiator; recommends and justifies a course of action resulting from these conferences. Conducts inspections and investigations of regulated facilities for compliance with FIFRA and applicable regulations; performs inspection duties for well-established facilities such as gathering and evaluating information, reviewing facility records, and developing documentation in accordance with agency program policies and procedures; prepares reports documenting inspection findings, site observations, evidence collected; enters and tracks data through EPAs national and regional information systems in accordance with agency protocol; Using knowledge of engineering and/or scientific principles, makes recommendations to team members concerning the targeting of facilities or regulatory sectors for inspection and other enforcement related activities. Provides regulatory compliance assistance. Uses professional scientific or engineering knowledge to promote acceptance of EPA policy and procedures by the State lead agencies, Tribes and the regulated sectors, and to implement programs related to FIFRA in accordance with existing policies and precedents. You also need a BA/BS degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position. Life Scientist: Biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Environmental Engineer: All applicants must meet one of the following requirements to qualify for consideration for an engineering position: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree at an accredited university or college OR a combination of college level education or training AND technical experience that has furnished you with (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: 1. Professional registration as an engineer. 2. Evidence of Passing the Engineer-in-Training Written Test. 3. Successful documented completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences as described by OPM. 4. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelors degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field and at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
