This is a request to all the students who study in WBUT Affiliated colleges to please support our protest against the proposed name change of West Bengal University of Technology to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). If this name changes the following can be the effects: 1. Identity Crisis: WBUT was established in 2002, it has made a good reputation in the last 12 years. And suddenly if its name is changed to MAKAUT, itll again take years a considerable number of years to rebuild that reputation. 2. Brand Value: We buy products of ITC,Park Avenue because these companies have a brand value. WBUT is known all over West Bengal to provide various technical degrees in various field of study. If the name changes to MAKAUT, half a decade of students will have passed out before the brand value is restored. 3. State Representation: Every state like Karnataka, Assam has its own universities (like Karnataka State Open University, Assam University). The name West Bengal University of Technology itself speaks for the state of West Bengal. But if the name is changed to MAKAUT, will it speak anything about the state where it is located? Some may think that How can it affect me? My college name isnt changing... On your graduation certificate there will be a name of the University which gave you the degree. Which name do you want West Bengal University of Technology (a reknowned institution) or MAKAUT? Spread this
