This is a surreal thank you to post, but... thank you to all helped me get to this point. On my ten year BJJ anniversary, I surprisingly received my brown belt. I cant tell you all how much Ive appreciate your support over the past decade. The high points of my career have been high, the plateaus have been torture, and my low points Ive survived through actively putting my ego aside and remembering who Im training for- myself. My teachers have been countless. My teammates have provided guidance, encouragement, and lasting friendships. My friends and family are second to none. However youve shown your support, thank you. To tag everyone who has put up with me for ten plus years and helped me get to this point is difficult. I must give a special thanks to my coach, Eric Red Schafer, Professor Pedro Sauer, my first sensei, Henry Matamoros, Sensei AoifeMoloney, Sensei and personal trainer DavidTekiela, long time teammate Michael Steven DeMarco (and Barb and B.O.B., Bobby Gerrits, you teammates all know who you are), my parents Marcene Korpela and Michael Korpela, and my bestie/acupuncturist Katie Michals/Sipin (VegOut Mke), and the whole RSMMA family. Lastly, thank you to all of the parents who have entrusted me with coaching their beloved children. I cant tell you what an honor it had been being Coach Courtnie. RSMMA kids have taught me just as much as any black belt, any tournament, or YouTube video. Youve kept me training, and I love you all.
