BTW, I dont think Miyazaki Hayao remake Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, a film, but I think his son or staffs of STUDIO GHIBLI want to remake it. In the case of Beltorchika Irma, there were many oppositions by Counteratack staffs, so Amuros garilfriend was changed to Chan Agi as you know. Mr. Tominos works is far from peoples common sense, but its not so strange things that peoples life will change dramatically. But, Mr. Tomino created a autism character Amuro Ray in First Gundam, and also created Kamille Bidan, a naive boy. But, he also created Judau Ashta, a very healthy boy. I thought that the sense of his character creativity was very nice. I heard that Mr.Tomino reserched not only Anime, but also Samurai plays and so on, so I think he could create various characters like he created. In a new translation of Z Gundam, Kamille Bidan didnt sufferr mental disorder. But, in the original he suffered mental disorder. It was jus a sensational thing as an Anime story, but certainly a traumatic thing for me.
