This is a video of Rebekah in occupational therapy yesterday. She was demonstrating her improved hand skills and showing us how well she can grab, shake, and pull while remaining in a sitting position. This is such and improvement over the last few months! And there was a time when we didnt think she would ever be able to use her hands so functionally. Her webbed thumbs made them unusable for a long time until her hands got big enough to allow the thumbs to be useful. She also is missing a crease in her hands that affects how the hands close and open. For years, she wouldnt tolerate her hands being touched and wouldnt grab things (just bat at stuff). And when she did begin using her hands, she didnt grasp well and fought using her left hand at any point. Now she grabs pretty well and even pinches. Oh, and she likes to throw things she doesnt want too. Lol.
