This is an editorial on humanity: I find it to be heartbreaking that animals are in shelters....shelters...it sounds that that would be a place of safety, but these shelters are in name only, as they are simply houses of execution. When I look on Facebook & view animals on waiting list to be euthanized, it makes my heart ache. What exactly did any of these creatures do except exist, that causes them to have a death sentence. Animals do not have the lifespan that humans do & yet they do not do the harm we do. Humans kill one another, rape, torture & maim out of boredom, lack of respect or just for the sheer hell of it. Animals are as cruel as humans & yet were given 7 times the life span or more in some cases. Humans sentence an animal to death, or as some like to call it euthanize because it sounds more acceptable, because someone decided this animal needs a good home & doesnt have one. What sense does that make? We were given dominion over the earth by God & look what weve done with our dominion. I find it quite appalling the numbers of animals that are gassed daily! We leave humans who have committed atrocities in our society, on death row for decades with countless appeals or some even go scott free. We give a homeless animal a few days until we give them the gas chamber. We humanely execute cold blooded killers, whom many of them had no humanity in taking the lives of other humans. I find this all to be quite ironic. If you love or have loved a cat, dog, rabbit, horse or some other animal in your lifetime, then you would agree it would be wonderful if animals lived as long as humans. I know human have souls but sometimes it seems there are many humans who have dark souls or are soulless. I find some of the gentlest creatures on earth to be of the four-legged variety. Funny how animals will show more love, more mercy than humans, as if the animals have more humanity than the humans & the humans display animal behaviors. Be kind to an animal today. Support animal rescues or sanctuaries that have a good reputation for saving animals. Adopt a pet & change your life for the better. I met several people this week who acted like depraved cave dwellers & I met several animals who displayed affection. Ironic. (My views may not be your views & thats quite alright.) ~ Lisa Morgan
