This is an essay written by George Orwell during the Second World War, about how H.G. Wells catastrophically underestimated Hitler and the appeal of his message, despite being one of the luminaries of his age. Remember how during the last session we were talking about letting scientists run the world? The problem is, theres still a lot of dangerous stupidity in the world. And the top intellects may not be well equipped to understand and deal with that effectively, being simply too intelligent to even begin to imagine how other people can be that stupid.
