This is an interesting letter contributed by Rick White at 180biz-let us know what you think Dear Sales person, I’m tired of dealing with sales people that are polite, stiff, and robotic. Even worse, I’m tired of sales people that think I’m a bother and only see me as a wallet with legs. I’m a human being and I need someone who can connect with me and help me. And I’m not talking about a sales person faking engagement; I can sense that a mile away. I’ve had enough and here’s one thing I can promise you, if you treat me badly, talk down to me, or only care about what you get, you’ll get nothing from me! Look, making a sale with me is easy. I either have a problem that I’m looking for help with or there’s something that I really want and I want to make sure I’m getting the right thing. I want you to ask questions to get the information you need and I need you to really listen to my answers so that you can help me. I hate answering the same question more than once and I loathe stupid questions; don’t waste my time. I am happy to clarify anything that you don’t completely understand. Just please don’t think you know what I’m looking for; I hate that. I don’t want someone too pushy because that makes me feel pressured and uncomfortable. I also don’t want someone that’s a pushover where I’m the one pushing through the process. I want someone that totally understands my situation, what I’m looking to get long term from their product, and guides me through the process keeping my needs his or her total concern. Yes, I know that I start our conversation off asking about price. Please understand that’s only because I don’t know how to engage with you. It doesn’t mean I’m what you call a price shopper. I’m willing to pay a fair price for the value that I get. If you can’t explain the value I get from doing business with you, then the only thing I can compare is your price. So please care about me, help me and show me why I want to do business with you and I will be your customer for life! Sincerely, Tired, beat up customer
