This is an ongoing problem, that reached the cancerous stage a decade ago. Both left and right (and middle) have think tanks, but ... The right-wing tanks over the years have adopted this approach. That instead of looking at facts and then building a theory, they would take a theory, and find facts to support it. Scientists will see the problem, but scientists have been systematically driven out of the right because scientists refuse to supply support on command.
