This is awesome!! Duncan Pittaway brought back to life the gigantic four-cylinder 28.5-liter engine from a Fiat S76. The S76 aka The Beast of Turin was built in 1910 for the sole purpose of taking down the land speed record, which it did by hitting 116 mph (186.68 km/h). Aside from the massive displacement, the engine also had some interesting features for those days such as four valves per cylinder as well as multi-spark and overhead cam technology. These hardware enhancements allowed the engine to generate as much as 300 bhp (224 kW) which for 1910 was pretty much mind-blowing. Just two cars were ever made and Pittaway had the opportunity to unite the chassis of one car with the engine of the other. After 100 years, the grunt of the 28.5-liter Fiat engine is still impressively powerful and chances are we will be able to hear it live at next years Goodwood Festival of Speed.
