This is certainly the single most important issue of our time, but - TopicsExpress

This is certainly the single most important issue of our time, but given that corporations are in charge of the only system by which they might be demoted from their current superhuman status, how can any action taken within the system can change it? Weve done nothing since Eisenhowers delivered his famous (and in retrospect, quaintly optimistic) warning about the military industrial Congressional complex, and now the only people with the power to bell the cat are the cats themselves. Corporations havent declared themselves people so much as theyve become Americas actual government, with the .01% whom they serve playing the role of Gods. When all the candidates for any significant elected office are chosen by the very few, the votes of the great many become nothing more than a propaganda exercised intended to sustain the illusion of choice. Collective bargaining and all its relatives have been successfully suppressed, and the Real Life Hens of Fox Poultry wont rebel so long as they get their 40-60 hours a week of fabulous cable Narcotainment™. Much as Id like to imagine otherwise, I cant see how Americans can or will do anything other than go on being temporarily embarrassed millionaires until the whole system goes the way of all pyramid schemes.
