This is for Catie: You need to know that education in El Dorado County is about the politics of development and not the children. I did not figure this out until my 4th child into the system. I could write a book, but instead I will give you an example. The County was working with Developer Leonard Grado to develop the strip of land between Herbert Green School and Missouri Flat. The location already has a severe traffic issue in front of the school and this project would make it even worse. Jack Sweeney stated that this is the schools problem, not the developers. The School Superintendent, becoming concerned for the childrens safety, wrote a letter to the County asking that they make sure that certain safety issues were addressed. When I saw that the project was going to be approved by the Board without mitigation considerations for Safety I called the Superintendent and asked if he was going to be at the Board meeting. He was told he could no longer be involved in the issue. So I called Vicki Barber and relayed through her assistant my concern for the Childrens safety. Her response was to write a emergency letter to the Board in support of the developers project. Catie you are allowing special interests to use fear mongering to side track you from the real issue. If you dont like what they are doing to your children then get a different school board. The policital engine in this County is using your children to their own purpose and even if you lobby for the developers, you will probably still be left with the short end of the stick. If you want your children to go to a different school there are other ways to accomplish that than to over impact the county with development. Sue Taylor
