This is for all of my nursing friends and colleagues, too numerous to name. I would especially like to appreciate all of the wonderful nurses who mentored me and grew me into the nurse I am today. Virginia Austin, my best friend who has been with me through tick and thin. My mentors at SFGH, Chiu Fong Wu, Christine DelCarlo, Josie McClurgh, May Katherine Franklin, Holly Cost, Monnie Reba Efross, Deborah Williams, and many more. My nursing instructors at USF, Sr. Elene Egan (RIP), one of the smartest people Ive ever met - Maria Mangini (my instructor again 20 years later @Holy Names University!), all of my instructors, many of whom are now my colleagues at USF. Dr. Faye Bower - an incredible inspiration of brilliance and how to age with a fierce vigor and vitality, Dr. Edith Jenkins-Weinrub Youre gonna hate me now, but love me later!. Other teaching mentors are Betsy Stetson, Laura Mahlmeister, and my preceptor Teresa Bahr. Others include Beth Stephens-Hennessy and Michael Fox. A special thanks to Major Charles Moseley, CRNA, who both inspired and browbeat me into going back to nursing school and who taught me to have fun on the job! Most of all Id like to recognize my aunt Barbara Appleby. Thanks to all of you for making me the nurse and teacher I am today!
