This is for bowlers who are new to USBC Youth JR Gold program. I have met with many people who will be trying out JR Gold for the first time, and have asked me many questions. So I will try to shed some light on the questions that have been asked to me. There are several great JR Gold programs in the OH, IN, MI area, and most follow the same core USBC rules, but have different program rules. West Michigan Jr Gold Tour along with many other great programs, have created different ways for our youths to gain experience on difficult sport patterns, while bowling at a reduced rate. Some programs will offer the bowler to compete, Just for the experience, by just basically paying the lineage(games), and maybe a small expense. If this is chosen then usually the bowler may not be bowling for the Gold spot, as this is usually a additional cost in entry fee. Here are the basic cost of many programs for bowlers competing for a JR Gold Spot. Entry fee, USBC JR Gold Membership( U12 or U15/20), USBC Youth Sanction fees. Program Membership(some) In order for a bowler to compete for a JR Gold spot, the bowler must have paid the: Youth USBC Sanction fees, and the USBC JR Gold Membership, before beginning to compete in the JR Gold event. Both are a annual renewal cost. Most youths pay the USBC Youth Sanction fees when they register for leagues in the Fall, but with more JR Gold programs starting earlier, the youths don’t get the forms yet. The USBC Youth Sanction cards, and the USBC JR Gold Memberships are 2(two) separate entities. Most events starting in July/Aug /Sept, will have blank forms of the sanction cards, and the JR Gold Memberships on hand. But I strongly suggest to parents/bowlers you take action and do this prior to attending any event. This will ease your registration. You can log into Bowl and do it online, there you can renew your sanction cards, and pay the JR Gold Memberships. Its faster, and you get your info quickly in your hands to print. Many Jr Gold events will ask for your JR Gold card, and check to see if your Youth Sanctions are current. You may still have a small local USBC association fee, to be paid when you register your youth for their youth leagues in Fall at their local house. Some programs may require the bowler to pay a small Membership to bowl in their program after bowling in so many events, but not all do this, so read the rules to see if this applies. Sometimes a program will discount the entry fee to the bowler if they are a member, making it it a good deal if your going to bowl in several events. So do your math, and see what works best for you. Some programs will run multiple age divisions pending enough bowlers are competing. This changes with each program. Some will run just one field, lumping all same gender bowlers, some will separate the ages if enough bowlers are present. So again read the rules to see what the ratio is. JR Gold Championship in Chicago will run six groups: U12, U15, U20 Boys n Girls fields in each. West Michigan JR Gold Tour will start is scholarship program this season. All scholarship will be in form of Smart Funds. We will also launch our Bowler Video Profile Page. Where after a bowler competes, they will have opportunity to send us a home video of them bowling, also with a Photo Release form, and a Bowler Bio sheets with stats: This is a excellent college recruiting idea. As we develop relationship with more college coaches, they are checking our site to review bowlers who they may have interest in near future. Here your kids will be seen by coaches across the U.S. I am currently working with a few Video Photographers who, for a fee will create a professional Video for you if you choose to go this route. This will be listed on our new website soon as we finalize this part. How cool is that. I hope this clears up some confusion, and not create more. It is my desire to create more opportunity for our youths to gain exposure to college coaches, compete for college scholarships, and sharpen the game of bowling. When our youths get to college they will most likely never see a house shot again, it will all be sport patterns. And the MI, OH, IN area Youth programs have done a super job of creating just that. Kudo’s to the other programs out there. So if you are going to bowl in a JR Gold program for a JR Gold spots soon. And you havn’t yet done so. I strongly urge you in advance to get: USBC Youth Sanctions paid, Get a Jr Gold Membership ( U12, or U15/20), and the entry fee. Again the Youth Sanctions fee and JR Gold Memberships can be done online at Bowl. Then register or send in your entry to the event you will compete in early. Some events may fill up, you don’t want to wait to long. If you want more JR Gold qualifiers, you can also log into Bowl, and look up under JR Gold qualifiers. Here you will see a state by state list of JR Gold Qualifiers. Their will be more events that will pop up, so keep you eyes open for other local events. Tks for your help, if you want more on West Michigan JR Gold Tour, we just changed our website address. So goto wmjgt.org more our website. Tks Jeff Share with others if this helps.
