This is for our continent......... AFRICA I smile and frown and smile and frown again For there is nothing to smile about in this world of pain Doubts being proven right day by day Wounds gone for decades resurfacing at the end of each day Politically minded elites proving worthless each and every other day Policies trespassing on our freedom, we are besieged Governance of no gain but lies and deceit Corruption and embezzlements rampant Things gone wrong for years and years For how long, I hope not donkey years I smile and frown and smile and frown again Remembering the empty promises of the people up top Up top, giving us development short A.C’s and soft chairs for a whole underutilized day is a lot Monkey work baboon eat Is the motto of the people up top We work our hands to the bone And they eat what we worked for Eat what the populace has toiled for, For a long time Eat what our hopes Have been hinged on all this time Eat what we should use to fund Our change bringing projects Eat our economy to nothing When it was something I smile and frown and smile and frown again Seeing people suffer When their states could be changed Seeing people cry When their tears could be wiped Seeing people starve When they could be fed Seeing people live in despair When they could be given hope I cry and cry and cry again For my Afric brothers and sisters in dooms way I curse our egocentric leaders I curse their self-centered and greedy nature And I envision a day when they will be replaced By my vision of a leader I smile and frown and smile and frown again At the violence that is consuming mother Africa At the backwardness of mother Africa At the lack of unity Between the people of mother Africa Our unfortunate motherland, Africa Blessed we are with natural resources But cursed we are With insatiable unruly leaders Dictators they are And should be shown the red card Give them the taste of their own medicine we should I smile and frown and smile and frown again At sir poverty For being knighted in our Africa At queen war For taking up a kingdom, Africa At king Hunger For colonizing our home, mother Africa At emperor corruption For being the worst foe of Africa At our own people Who wish to see the downfall of Africa United we stand but divided we fall Let’s stand together as patriots, that’s my call We are not perfect but towards it we should work Like America, Europe, Asia and Australia did ages ago But still they are not perfect But just advanced and developed I smile and frown and smile and frown again We are lost and need to rescue ourselves Lost in the days of catastrophic disorder Lost on the island of despondency The yacht of optimism we need to board and leave This island into the open waters of the ocean of freedom Sail towards the land of liberated mother Africa See the smiles of the people of free Africa I’ll finally smile and smile and smile again When Africa is fully liberated Free and ours as Africans again
