This is for women only - I have a confession to make - As some of you know, at the beginning of the year I decided to deliberately start telling some of you the outstanding qualities I admire in you. Previously, I had noticed that the young 20- somethings I work and go to school with were uncomfortable receiving a genuine compliment beyond, I like your boots. It dawned on me that they were uncomfortable because they were unaccustomed to being encouraged by another woman - a woman that wasnt their mom. My own daughters criticized me, and were truly hurt over what Id done to them. Their complaint? No one in the big wide world thinks they are as funny, brilliant & wonderful as I do. I built them up too much. According to them, I instilled a false belief system causing them to think they were better than than they actually were, and the world has been more than happy to knock them down. Maybe thats true - maybe I did do them an injustice, but maybe its also true that they ARE as wonderful as I led them to believe, and others think the same as I do about them - they just dont verbalize it. Thats really sad. The numbers in the article below will shock you. We must start recognizing and pointing out the wonderful inner qualities we admire in each other as women. The future depends on it. And PS - Jessica Alba is copying me, so Im pretty sure its a good idea. ;) (JA copying me is a joke, I dont really think that) Im only tagging a couple of people because Im in a hurry - please share the article if you are so inclined. :)
