This is from ABC 33/40 Website. This is my concern. We may be ok....but we may not be. With the potential for more bad weather in the late morning hours that affects our travel and prep time. Much prep time is needed for 100 sandwiches and bags of cookies and stuffing 100 sacks with all the goodies. If we make the sandwiches and the weather doesnt allow us to hand them out - then they are wasted. Not to mention everything and everybody getting soaked as we try to load the cars. As much as I hate to do this, I think the best and safest call is to reschedule this outreach :-( Everything we have will keep as it is now until the next outreach. The only thing perishable is the bread and it can be frozen. I will be out of town next weekend visiting my daughter, grand-daughter and son-in-law in Kentucky. So we will reschedule this for the next weekend. I am creating a GROUP page with the outreaches listed and all important information. It will be a public group so once it goes live be sure to join the group to keep up with what is going on. Thanks to everyone who donated items for the outreach this week and please know they will be used in the next outing. We must consider safety first. I would rather be safe than sorry. As I said - nothing may happen - but there is no way to tell. God bless. SEVERE WEATHER TONIGHT: The SPC has much of the Lower Mississippi Valley outlined in their standard slight risk for severe weather today, which includes areas of West Alabama. This risk includes locations along and west of U.S. Highway 43 from Muscle Shoals down to Fayette, Tuscaloosa, Demopolis, then the risk shifts towards the Southeast before exiting the Gulf Coast near Panama City. For Alabama, the main time frame for severe weather will arrive later tonight and into the early hours of Saturday. Damaging winds and large hail will be our main threats, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Since the bulk of this activity is likely to arrive overnight, it is essential you have a way to receive your severe weather alerts. Plan ahead. SATURDAY: By tomorrow morning, showers and storms will be ongoing across Central Alabama. There will still be chance for some strong storms. During the late morning hours, this activity should be rapidly exiting the eastern portions of the state. A frontal boundary will move through the region Saturday as well, and I really think the afternoon hours will be pretty nice. We will have clearing skies and nice northwest winds that will help bring in some cooler and drier air. Afternoon highs for Saturday should be right around the 70 degree mark.
