This is going to be one of the hardest post I will ever do. My old - TopicsExpress

This is going to be one of the hardest post I will ever do. My old High School (class of ’75) in Oklahoma City is being torn down and I have been pretty melancholy over it… so I keep asking myself WHY ‘am I so upset it is just a building? You see, the old John Marshall High School, built in the early 1950s, was more than just a building. She was “the best in the City,” a surrogate mother to thousands of students who welcomed you every day and wrapped her arms around you as you learned about yourself and life in a microcosm of the world. She was an escape, a home, a friend all in one. She was a place to discover who you were and guide you into who you would become. No, the old John Marshall is more than just a building, she was part of your family. Yesterday my husband and I went to say goodbye. We found that the grand old girl was full of past students reminiscing about the past and wondering the former great halls. It was heartbreaking to see her. I could still hear voices from the past and the bell ringing telling you to hustle to class as we looked through the grand abandoned classrooms. With a tear in my eye I said thank you for making me...ME...and farewell as she meets her fate. I urge all of my facebook friends who are in OKC that went to JMHS to go say goodbye. Long live the memories of the grandest place in Oklahoma City…We are the “Bears from John Marshall…”
