*This is going to take a while to post. My brother came into existence on December the 22nd, 1989, mostly distinguished for being the heaviest baby this hospital (most likely) ever had (you wouldnt know that going by that photo). Like most brothers/siblings growing up, we would do a lot of things together (our first video game was a cooperative one), get into fights (though probably the smaller kind back then unless you count him throwing a Super Nintendo controller at my right eye) together, and go to places together. We also made contrast a big deal, often in the color spectrum with me being blue and him being red, especially since we were given baby Disney blankets with each having one color to represent us; in the character department, me being Luigi and him being Mario (we based on height and color preference then on seniority despite Brett ended up being as tall as me). If there was one thing that he stuck with while I drifted off from it, it was pro-wrestling (World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment pretty much). Brother, cousin(s), and friend(s) manage to purchase a trampoline (though its safety quality, even now, is very questionable) two years ago and ended up using it for fake wrastlin. Him, me, and cousin Justin always liked doing that from time to time back then but never did find the most appropriate place to do so I suppose a trampoline was the next best thing for them to keep at it. Anyways, around the time the Millennium rolled around, things were changing. I started become a bit recluse and Brett started to become more Typical Annoying Younger Brother (despite only being 1 year and 8 months apart). This was the same time we REALLY started to get into music then just being bystanders as our Dad plays his cassette tapes (you can never say no to Money For Nothing though) and only being stuck with what CDs Mom had (Looney Tunes doing song covers for the Beatles is something you have to listen once in your life) but eventually even I started drifting away towards what I perceived as simply better music (regardless of when it came out or how popular that artist/band was) while he kept up with what was hot at the scene (though he never did let go of the late 90s/early 00 forms of music, especially with artists like Eminem and Britney Spears that he kept supporting). Actually, to think about it, this was really the same time we started to become very different people on about 70-80% of everything; stuff we grew up in the 90s mostly were the only the things we would get together. On September the 5th, 2003, though, Dad passed away and us being young, taking turns playing Vice City, and family & school teachers visiting us were pretty much the only coping mechanisms we had to get through the eternal and internal pain in the following 7 days (Moms Dad passed away year later but the impact wasnt exactly the same for me since I never did meet him that much...and me being a teenager). When time mended us, things became close to normal as it would ever get that, unfortunately, would include heated differences between Brett and I. I would stay in my room more often and he would just play video games in the living room with like-minded family members and friends more often, day or night be damned. The thing though was that he, ultimately, was a lighthouse or a glue that guided/stuck a lot of people to each other/together that, otherwise, may have not met/befriended and Im not sure even he was ever aware of this. At dusk, on March 15th, 8 days ago, Brother Brett, Cousin Justin, and Friend Tyler were playing their usual wrastlin on the trampoline at the back yard; when both Justin and Tyler were looking back, Brett stood tall on that very trampoline and proclaimed I AM THE CHAMP! and then fell into unconsciousness. We would later find out, that night, that he passed away which, in days later, the coroner would report that Brett went to a better place on that trampoline. Plenty of you Ive tagged didnt know who he was or, perhaps, was even aware I had a sibling but I felt that, since he was a fellow human being that Ive gotten to know of, it would be nice for all of you to see a brief glimpse into who this person was. It is ok to Like, Comment, and/or Share this post or even personally Message me if you feel incline to, there is really nothing left for me to get sensitive about besides reminding myself, rather voluntarily or not, of things I can no longer do with Brett Baisden. We all should write wills to ease the confusion of what to do with a deceaseds belongings or how we say our final goodbyes but we should never forget and keep reminding ourselves to hold on to what we care about the most, tightly yet nicely. **If you are in the Shasta County area or is able to make it by April 5th if you want to be there, that is the day when Bretts funeral will be held.
