This is great: Our Lord shows us both the difficulty of the way and the reward of the labor. I am the way, the truth and the life. The way, he says, is humility, which leads to truth. The first is labor; the second is reward for the labor.... But what if the way is so difficult that I cannot reach the desired reward? He replies, I am the life, that is, food for the journey. To those who go astray and do not know the road, he says, I am the way. To those who hesitate to believe, he says, I am the truth. To those who are already climbing, he says, I am the life.
